I wanted to build something that I could upload to my site and use over and over again on my WordPress blog. By utilizing flashVars (variables defined in the embedding code) the file can be reused with different video files, formats, and made to be unique to each post or to each blog. In honor of the scroll bar and scroll wheel I’m proud to present Sideways, a horizontal image and media gallery website. Inspiration for this file came from an HTML website I built long ago that scrolled horizontally, but it was clunky and lacked the elegance and smoothness of an all flash site. This Sideways Scrolling Gallery site solves the clunkiness and navigational hazards of HTML.
Sideways is an accomplished gallery website template that could even be outfitted as a fantastic portfolio site. With Deeplinking and SEO optimization there’s nothing holding this file back from being your be-all website. The Before & After Image Viewer is a unique flash application that allows you to place two images on top of each other, and by selecting the slider-bar the viewer can hide and reveal each image allowing both images to be compared without placing them side be side.
I built the Before & After image viewer with the intent to help showcase a recent makeover (before and after), to aid in comparing two products, highlighting photoshop skills (untouched and photoshopped image), or to simply use it to communicate a message in a dynamic way.
Just about everything in this flash application is customizable through the use of flashVars: Title, description, horizontal or vertical bar, solid or faded bar, colors, positioning, the images, etc. This means no flash or actionscript knowledge is required. In fact you can use the file without ever opening the FLA (unless of course you wanna get your hands into the source).
The Before & After Image Viewer is also capable of handling just about every file format you can throw at it (jpg, gif, png, swf).
You have this really great idea for a website or a client comes to you and says they need a new site, but it’s going to take a few weeks, months, or maybe even more to get the final product hosted. Meanwhile the client is breathing down your neck to get something up yesterday. You could put up an “under construction” page or a “coming soon” banner, but those flashing gifs with construction barriers are so 1999. The player can also be customized by specifying certain settings that change the colors, and what’s displayed. In short there’s now a great YouTube player that you can tailor to fit your website and still utilize YouTube’s amazing video service.

Adaptively adjust video quality based on your connection and display size, and it utilizes the new stage video feature in flash player 10.2 to increase performance (flash player 10.2 not required though for playback). this file also includes iPhone and mobile device fallback.

After watching this video all I can think of is how awesome it would be to do all the traveling to make this amazing short.
3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films.
It seems just about everywhere I turn on the internet creative types are sharing their design or work space with the world.
I don’t know if it’s we feel like sharing our creative space will make us more legit or creative, but there are countless blogs and websites dedicated to just showcasing amazing workspaces, and home studios that look beautful and inspiring. And with as amazing as the spaces are it seems a little unrealistic. With kids, wife and a dog often sharing the same area it's difficult to claim the space for one's self.
I know I'm a bit late to the whole "Death Cab for Cutie". I've always admired the poster art that's been created for the band (especially the stuff from Jason Munn). But it wasn't until they interviewed front man Ben Gibbard on NPR and said he was married to Zooey Deschanel that I thought I really should see what all the hipe is about (I mean who doesn't love Zooey and if she likes him enough to marry… I know it's strange logic).
I purchased their latest album and it's pretty good. Not every track is amazing, but I'm officially calling the song titled "You Are a Tourist" the song of the summer. I can't get it out of my mind. Now I have years of Death Cab to catch up on.
